Sunway University launches medical school


A NEW medical institution in Bandar Sunway, Selangor, is aiming to redefine the training of future healthcare professionals.

Sunway University has launched the Sir Jeffrey Cheah Sunway Medical School, which will focus on academic excellence, ethical leadership, and cutting-edge research.

Sunway Group founder and chairman Tan Sri Sir Dr Jeffrey Cheah KBE AO said a world-class university and medical centre were key elements of a thriving integrated township.

He said the Sunway Medical Centre was the largest private hospital in Malaysia and also the country’s first substantial private teaching and research hospital.

“Our latest development, called Sunway Square, located across from Sunway Medical Centre and Sunway University, will feature a purpose-built facility for the new medical school.

“The Sir Jeffrey Cheah Sunway Medical School will be equipped with the latest technologies and state-of-the-art facilities,” he said during the launch of the medical school at Sunway University.

The event was officiated by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.
