Sibu Kidney Foundation (SKF), through its Kidney Awareness Unit, has launched a health-focused programme offering free medical check-ups and consultations to the public.
The goal of this initiative is to encourage early detection and prevention of kidney-related illnesses, while helping individuals gain a better understanding of their kidney conditions.
The SKF Kidney Awareness Unit was created to raise public awareness and promote proactive health practices, empowering people to take charge of their kidneys.
“Over the years, we have delivered health talks and provided free screenings at schools, churches, rural communities, and various organisations,” said SKF chairman Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau in a statement.
“Our main objective is to remind the public of the importance of paying attention to kidney care.”
He said dialysis treatments, usually conducted three times a week with each session lasting about four hours, were expensive and physically exhausting.
He expressed hope that SKF’s programmes would help detect high-risk individuals early and enable timely medical intervention.
The public is welcome to visit the unit for free consultations every weekday from 8.30am to 10.30am and from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
