A new retail hub in Bandar Puteri Bangi, Selangor, is set to enliven the growing township.

As the latest project of the IOI Properties Group Bhd (IOIPG), Bangi Fresco will have a waterfront feature plus dining, retail and social spaces.

IOIPG group chief operating officer Teh Chin Guan said Bangi Fresco would span five hectares and feature 100,000sq ft of lifestyle retail facilities.

“These will include 24 shops, five waterfront food and beverage outlets, alfresco dining areas, and four drive-through outlets.”

Also proposed is a grocery store occupying some 19,000sq ft of space.

“This commercial landmark will be a one-stop destination for the community in Bandar Puteri Bangi and surrounding areas,” said Teh.

To promote active lifestyles, the project will include a 10,000sq ft event hall plus a sports centre.

“The hub will be owned and managed by our leasing team.

“This will be similar to how other retail assets, such as IOI City Mall and IOI Mall Puchong, are managed,” said Teh at the Bangi Fresco launch held at IOI Galleria in Bangi.

He explained that the curated street mall experience would meet area demand for upscale dining and retail.

“Over RM30mil has been invested to create covered open-air retail spaces that promote natural lighting, ventilation, walkability and flow.

“We have incorporated a picturesque dining bungalow fronting a man-made lake.

“Additionally, we have introduced a gradient in the landscaping to maximise visibility from the main road,” he added.

With prime accessibility via Laman Puteri 1, Laman Puteri 2, and Persiaran Mahkota 1, as well as over 350 parking bays, Teh said Bangi Fresco would attract large footfall.

He said the project was expected to be completed by the third quarter of next year.

IOIPG Bangi and Sepang general manager Wong Peen Fook said the project was designed to serve as a growth catalyst.

Launched in 2015, Bandar Puteri Bangi spans 145.7ha and features a range of properties.

These include townhouses, serviced apartments, semi-detached houses, bungalows and shop offices.

Wong said the township’s masterplan ensured recreational amenities, greenery, ample parking and public spaces.

“We designed the township with everything in place for the convenience of owners and residents.

“A supermarket, healthcare facilities and educational institutions are all nearby.

“Located just 30 minutes from Kuala Lumpur, Bandar Puteri Bangi is easily accessible via multiple highways.

“These include the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway, Kajang-Seremban (Lekas) Highway, SILK Highway, Elite Highway and South Klang Valley Expressway,” he said.
