AFTER years of public complaints, road resurfacing works are being completed at a residential area in Taman Sri Sinar, Segambut.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) began repairing 10 roads – from Jalan 7/38E to Jalan 16/38E – on March 14.

Work is almost complete.

Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh’s political secretary Yap Yee Vonne said the road resurfacing had been done.

“Road markings have yet to be completed on a few roads,” she said during a visit to Taman Sri Sinar.

“We understand many roads in Kuala Lumpur require repairs and we are working on a schedule to make sure more areas can be covered monthly and if possible, weekly.”

She said complaints on road conditions had been received since 2023.

“The project went smoothly as residents were notified ahead of time and could ensure there were no road obstructions.”

Funds for the resurfacing came from from DBKL’s Civil Engineering and Drainage Department (JKAWS).

Originally scheduled for completion by mid-April, the project is ahead of schedule.

Yap hoped that DBKL would continue supporting JKAWS with the necessary grants to carry out more upgrades across the city.

Resident Tan Kim Chong, 65, said he used to slow down while riding his motorcycle along the damaged roads.

“With repairs being done, I don’t need to move so slowly anymore and have no worries of hitting a pothole,” he said.

Another resident who only wanted to be known as Rina, 69, said the road improvements made a big difference for the elderly, especially those using canes while walking.

“I am from another part of Taman Sri Sinar and use this road regularly to cross the road to get to the shops.

“Others use it as well to get to the bus stop for shopping at the wet market.

“I am pleased that we can see something is being done for residents.”
