KUALA LUMPUR City Hall (DBKL) has temporarily suspended three enforcement officers involved in a recent scuffle with an unlicensed balloon trader on Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.
Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif said the decision was made to allow both DBKL's internal investigation and police inquiry to proceed independently, transparently, and comprehensively.
"The matter was also discussed with the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
"DBKL takes this incident seriously and will not tolerate any form of misconduct, particularly if it compromises integrity and public trust in enforcement institutions.
"If found guilty, appropriate action will be taken. A final decision will be made once investigations are fully completed," read the statement on Sunday (March 30).
Meanwhile, DBKL executive director (socio-economy) and the enforcement department director visited 29-year-old trader Muhamad Za'imuddin Azlan, who is currently receiving medical treatment in hospital.
"DBKL is also considering covering his medical expenses, subject to further review.
"We urge all parties to refrain from speculation, allowing the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into this matter," the statement said.
