THIS year, Maggi celebrates its 20th anniversary distributing bubur lambuk to the community in conjunction with Ramadan.

Approximately 300,000 bowls of the porridge were distributed across 280 locations nationwide in this year’s programme.

In one initiative, 20 Pertubuhan Hawa Pertiwi members prepared and distributed bubur lambuk at Masjid Jamek Tengku Abdul Aziz Shah in Kuala Lumpur.

Among the participants was the non-governmental organisation’s Petaling district chairman Radziah Ahmad, who waited eagerly for the event each year.

“We have participated in the bubur lambuk cooking and distribution since 2019.

“We cook together gotong- royong style at the mosque, and this activity also helps foster a sense of togetherness.

“In the evening, we were at the Maggi Masak-Masak Kitchen at Surian Tower, where we learned how to make lontong goreng after a lesson on healthy eating,” she added.

Another participant Norela Abu Bakar said the event helped build bonds among the attendees, calling the programme a noble initiative.

She also found the food knowledge on portion control of rice, vegetables and meat particularly interesting.

Siti Norina Abdul Aziz, another participant, learned valuable skills in cooking large portions.

“Cooking bubur lambuk for thousands of people is a significant task. I feel privileged to have learned how to do it at this event,” she said.

Maggi Malaysia business executive officer Ivy Tan believes that empowering women, especially mothers, is key to ensuring families enjoy balanced and nutritious meals.

“We were honoured to organise a special cooking session at the Maggi Masak-Masak Kitchen with Maggi’s resident chef Sharifah Hamidah Syed Mohsin.”

The chef shared festive recipes along with easy and practical tips for preparing delicious and healthy meals for the whole family.

“At Maggi, we believe that women with the right knowledge and skills can bring about positive change.

“Whether through cooking, entrepreneurship or small changes in daily life, we aim to encourage them to move forward with confidence.

“Programmes like this reflect our commitment to empowering women through the power of food, helping them grow and reach their full potential in life,” she added.

Nestlé Malaysia chief executive Juan Aranols said the initiative served as a beacon of kindness and unity, inspiring people to uplift one another and foster a stronger, more compassionate community today and for generations to come.
