Fresh perspectives on traditional dishes for buka puasa in KL

GRAND Millennium Kuala Lumpur is showcasing a rendition of local and international favourites for Ramadan at its all-day dining restaurant, The Mill Cafe.

The hotel’s “Jom Makan” buffet promises an elevated experience featuring both traditional and international fare.

“Jom Makan 2.0” introduces a fresh perspective on traditional dishes with lesser-known classics, reimagining the use of local ingredients to delight the modern palate.

The Kawah section takes diners on a nostalgic journey, evoking the spirit of festive gatherings in the kampung.

The emphasis is on recreating the charm of kampung meals in the heart of Kuala Lumpur during the fasting month.

Notable dishes here include Assam Pedas Telur Ikan Moyang, Gulai Kawah Kelantan, Telur Itik Masak Lemak Cili Api, Kambing Bakar Utara and Sup Daging Selat.

Other mains include Rendang Tok, Ayam Masak Merah, Sotong Masak Kicap, Daging Dendeng Minang, Udang Goreng Oat and bubur lambuk.

An array of traditional desserts await to end the meal on a sweet note.

Diners can delight in apam balik, kuih lapis, kuih seri muka, onde-onde, pulut hitam, kuih talam, bubur serawa durian, ais kacang and cendol.

For a nostalgic touch, there’s classic aiskrim potong or freshly prepared banana, cempedak, breadfruit and yam fritters as well as ubi getuk.

The buffet also presents a variety of international dishes including Indian, Japanese and Middle Eastern favourites.

The “Jom Makan 2.0” Buffet, priced at RM178++ per adult and RM89++ per child (five to 12 years old), is available until March 28.
