SOME 1,800 members of the Girl Guides Association of Malaysia (GGAM) came together during an event in Pahang to uphold the leadership of young women through the World Thinking Day 2025 celebration.

The two-day celebration saw participants from 18 GGAM contingents from across the country engaging in various activities and competitions including a Junk Jam Competition, Futurama Diorama, Pixel Code and Girl Guides Aerobic.

Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, who graced the event themed “Our Story”, urged participants to reflect on GGAM’s history, origin and goals.

“This celebration gives us all an opportunity to look back on how the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) has enhanced our self-worth to emerge as individuals who are not only knowledgeable, but also active contributors to the prosperity of society.

“Let’s become good role models to the community and the country through our actions and leadership,” said Tunku Azizah, who is also GGAM Pahang president.

Also present were GGAM president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and GGAM chief commissioner Datuk Yeoh Soo Keng.

Yeoh called on all GGAM members to continue fostering the spirit of courage, innovation and determination in every step of their lives.

“We have been given an opportunity today on World Thinking Day 2025 to write our own story.

“As you celebrate, take a moment to think about your 10 million sisters in 153 countries and territories who share this journey with you.

“Whether near or far, we are all connected by the same promise, the same values and the same dream of a better world for girls and young women.

“We encourage you to be part of this journey, share your stories and celebrate the power of our global sisterhood,” said Yeoh in her speech.

Dr Wan Azizah said the celebration’s theme was a timely reminder of GGAM’s responsibility to continue upholding the leadership of young women, strengthening the spirit of unity and inspiring future generations.

She also launched the World Thinking Fund 2025, an annual fundraising campaign for WAGGGS that unites members of GGAM in a movement to think about others and the impact GGAM can play in society.

Tunku Azizah also launched the Clover Girl Guides during the celebration held at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah’s Sports Complex in Pekan, Pahang.
