AFTER the gut-wrenching draw with Everton in midweek, Liverpool will have to dust themselves off quickly and get on with the job when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow.

The players were clearly upset after conceding a late equalising goal by James Tarkowski in the 2-2 draw.

An altercation also broke out between Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucoure after the final whistle was blown, which saw both get red-carded.

Reds boss Arne Slot and his assistant Sipke Hulshoff also saw red after the match, but could be in the dugout for the game against Wolves.

The Reds have the willpower and capability to change the course of any match.

But due to the fact that it was the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, emotions ran high as the heat of the moment took its toll.

Of the 120 matches that were played there, both sides each won 41 times, while 38 matches resulted in draws.

Everton may feel that they have put a huge dent in Liverpool’s title charge, but with 57 points, the Reds still have a seven-point lead over second-placed Arsenal.

And Liverpool will no doubt be the favourites against Vitor Pereira’s team this weekend.

The Merseyside club have over the season shown their mettle to bounce back after a disappointing result.

They brushed aside Italian giants AC Milan 3-1 in the Champions League after the 1-0 league defeat to Nottingham Forest last September.

And after the 3-2 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in January, the Reds bounced back with a 2-0 win against an impressive Bournemouth side earlier this month.

Wolves, on the other hand, will no doubt be hungry for more victories, having won two back-to-back matches in all competitions this month.

They pulled off an upset with a 2-0 victory over eighth-placed Aston Villa earlier in the month and also defeated Championship side Blackburn Rovers with the same scoreline in the FA Cup fourth round last week.

Throughout January though, they lost all four of their Premier League matches and just edged out another Championship side, Bristol City, in the FA Cup 2-1.

Wolves, at 17th spot, will be hoping that they have turned a corner, and will cause another upset, this time against the league leader at Anfield.

They are currently in a relegation battle with Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton, and will no doubt be fighting tooth and nail to stay in the league.

Having no midweek matches, Wolves will also have a slight advantage over Liverpool in terms of fitness and preparations.

The Reds will have to bank on their home crowd advantage to power them through the match.
