THE charming stretch of Love Lane, George Town, has been transformed into a festive hotspot with giant inflatable figures of a Christmas tree and a Santa Claus perched on its buildings.

Shops, eateries, pubs and cafes lining the 100m lane have joined in by adorning their spaces with dazzling lights and creative decorations in anticipation of revellers.Restaurateur Adrian Joh, 44, had gone all out with his venue’s decorations.

“This is the time of the year when our nights come alive with the most number of customers.

“We are expecting at least double or triple the usual crowd during the last week of December, mainly from Christmas to New Year’s Eve.

“There will be exciting games and live band performances, and our team is ready to handle the surge in visitors, many of whom will be foreign tourists,” said Joh.

Local entrepreneur Loke Gim Tay, 66, who owns properties in the area, said the new installations have added charm to the already established tourist spot.

“The giant inflatable Santa and Christmas tree are a fantastic touch to enhance the festive vibes without breaking the bank.

“Over the years, this street has become a go-to venue for locals and tourists to celebrate and count down to the new year.

“This time, we’re stepping it up with more decorations and extra lighting to make the nights even more magical.

“As the season of joy approaches, Love Lane stands ready to welcome visitors with open arms,” said Loke.
