DBKL urged to fix ponding, drainage issues in Taman Sri Segambut

SRI Segambut residents are fed up with having to deal with huge puddles of water along Jalan Udang Rawa after a downpour.

They said water would accumulate after rainfall due to potholes and uneven road surface.

Community activist Yee Poh Ping, during a site visit, said there were no drainage channels.

He also noticed that the road’s uneven nature resulted in rainwater pooling in some areas.

Yee said the shoplots adjacent to the road were elevated, which meant that the rainwater from there would flow further onto Jalan Udang Rawa and cause more puddles.

“There is currently no system in place for water drainage,” he noted.

During his visit with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officers, Yee proposed the construction of drainage channels on the side of the road pavement.

A DBKL spokesperson said a study would need to be carried out to identify viable remedies.

Yee said he hoped the issue would be solved as soon as possible for the benefit of the community.

“Problems take months to be solved and sometimes it never gets solved, leaving the community frustrated,” he said, underscoring the urgent need for road safety. ― By KENJI NG KEN LIN
