Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), a component party of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is calling on professionals and youth to join it.

Its women’s chief Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodie said the party would be further strengthened with more professionals as its members.

“As the PRS women chief, I often receive important and useful feedback from professors and lecturers from higher education institutions on policies that we should highlight,” she said after attending the opening ceremony of PRS Women’s Wing Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodie Futsal Cup.

The competition was launched by Ngemah assemblyman Anyi Jana.

On PRS’ strategy to attract those aged 18 and above to join as members, Doris said the establishment of a Pewaris Movement was proposed at the recent Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC).

She said they were waiting for the Sarawak Registrar of Societies (ROS) to officially approve the establishment of Pewaris.

“However, we strongly encourage activities like futsal competitions because they also attract individuals aged 18 and above to participate.

“Through such activities, we introduce PRS’ objectives, foster camaraderie within PRS and help the people become more familiar with PRS through sports.

“This might lead them to be more open to fully engaging in politics, as well as participating in programmes like town halls,” said Doris who is also Sri Aman MP. ― By ANDY CHUA
