A TOTAL 110 people signed up for immediate job opportunities during a recruitment campaign by a food and grocery delivery company.

They signed up as Foodpanda Malaysia delivery partners at the first “Jejak Panda” campaign event at IWK Eco Park, in Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur.

The new recruits received their rider identification, underwent training and received complimentary rider kit on-the-spot, enabling them to start work right away.

The usual process usually takes about two or three days.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who is also the Lembah Pantai MP, said the campaign provided a platform, especially for those in Pantai Dalam to learn about the job opportunities available.

Apart from employment, Fahmi said there was also a need to increase awareness on financial matters among the people especially on the importance of savings and financial security.

“For instance, workers should be encouraged to contribute to the Social Security Organisation (Socso).

“Those who contribute will be protected under its scheme, which provides various benefits in the event of any untoward incidents,” he said.

Foodpanda Malaysia operations director Shubham Saran said the company recognised its role in supporting communities by offering accessible earning opportunities.

“We are grateful for the support of our partners, which helps us reach more people and make a greater impact across Malaysia.

“Our support for communities goes beyond just offering earning opportunities.

“As a Foodpanda delivery partner, they will benefit from the welfare and engagement initiatives, to help them get closer to their life goals and aspirations,” he said.

Attendees at the event were also treated to lunch, a series of activities and free health and eye check-up.

They also learnt about the welfare and engagement initiatives under “Panda hearts” – a programme to support delivery partners through benefits such as insurance schemes for riders and their families as well as upskilling programmes.
