THE large field in Jinjang Utara will undergo significant upgrades following the approval of a RM200,000 allocation from Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT).

Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng said the upgrade work would begin at the end of the year and was expected to be completed within three months.

“We will add walking trails with reflexology pathways, gazebo and solar lights and 10 sets of outdoor fitness equipment,” he said at a press conference.

According to Lim, this was to encourage more residents to use the space for rest and exercise.

He said the field had not been upgraded since 2018 and the exercise equipment was limited.

Additionally, he encouraged residents to submit suggestions to his service centre on how to improve areas in Kepong.

In conjunction with the National Day month, Lim distributed Jalur Gemilang, sponsored by private enterprises, to community groups, residents’ committees and the Kepong branch of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

“We will distribute 200 large and small flags to the Federation of Social Organisations of Jinjang and Kepong, which is the largest society with 78 members.

“The Kepong branch of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) received 200 flags, while six residents representative council members in Kepong each received 50 flags,” he said.

Residents representative council (MPP) sub zone 5 president Alice Peh Thiam Kee, who was also present at the press conference, said that she would ensure the flags were delivered to low-cost flats residents, to enable them to join in the National Day celebrations and enhance the festive atmosphere.

DBKL Kepong branch office manager Norhizamudin Moktar Rudin said the flags would be displayed on roads and distributed to residents’ committees and hawkers.

Also present were Jinjang Federal Village Development and Security Committee (JPKKP) member Cremand Tan and Lim’s assistant, Dic Lai.
