A large-scale international trade exhibition will be held in Ipoh, Perak to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China.

Ipoh mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin said the exhibition was set to be held at Stadium Indera Mulia from Aug 1 to 4.

The Malaysia-China trade event, running from 10am to 10pm, is jointly organised by Ipoh City Council (MBI) and Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC).

“The main purpose of this exhibition is to attract entrepreneurs and business groups from China to invest and establish businesses in our country,” Rumaizi said.

“This exhibition is also in line with the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme, which aims to attract foreign investors to stimulate the local economy.”

Speaking at a press conference at MBI’s office in Greentown, Rumaizi said given China’s rapid growth in trade, economy and smart technology, Ipoh should seize this opportunity to expand trade flow and transactions with Chinese firms.

“We will need to improve our product quality as well as train local talents.

“It is time for us to compete with developed countries in the world,” he said.

Rumaizi said entrepreneurs participating in the trade exhibition were from Hong Kong, Macau, Nanning, Shandong and Guangzhou, alongside participants from Thailand and Malaysia.

“The exhibition will feature 140 booths, focusing on aspects such as franchising, digital economy, halal food and consumer products,” he said.
