A special task force operations hub in Tamin, Sarawak is expected to resolve citizenship issues faced by the local community.

Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang said about 200 people in the central Sarawakian constituency had no identification documents.

He said this while inspecting the hub, also known as Pasukan Petugas Khas (PPK) Operations Centre, at Dewan Penghulu Balang near Sekuau in the Sibu district.

Sambang said the centre’s main objective was to address citizenship issues such as birth registration as well as school enrolments.

Sambang says the Sarawak government initiative is to solve issues stemming from residents not having identity cards.

The same initiative had been taken at Penghulu House Julia Awal in Batu 36, Tamin, and Penghulu House Lasit Bajing in the northeast coastal Balingian sub-district as well as Selangau District Office in central Sarawak.

“This programme is an initiative by the Sarawak government to help residents solve issues stemming from not having identity cards.

“Thanks to the Sarawak government under the leadership of Tan Sri Johari Openg and the Federal Government, this initiative will help people in the state who lack identification documents,” said Sambang.
