RESIDENTS of Shah Alam will pay their assessment tax at a new rate starting January 1, 2025.
In a statement, the corporate and public relations department of Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) said the new assessment rate is part of a property revaluation exercise that involves some 284,000 premises within the council’s jurisdiction.
“The existing assessment rate has been used for 19 years since Jan 1, 2006. A revaluation is therefore needed.
“The new rate will involve all categories of assets, including residential, commercial, industrial, and empty lands (agricultural).
“Nevertheless, the tax that needs to be paid by the owners on Jan 1, 2025 will be capped at a maximum of 25% higher than the existing tax rate,” it said.
Property owners can check the new assessment rate at MBSA’s Assessment and Asset Management Department starting May 16.
They can also send their appeals in writing to the Assessment and Asset Management Department, Wisma MBSA, Persiaran Perbandaran, 40000 Shah Alam, Selangor Darul Ehsan or email them to bantahan@mbsa.gov.my by June 14.
For enquiries, owners can call MBSA’s Assessment and Asset Management Department at 03-55222766.
