PETALING JAYA: Some children, barely arrived in this world, are already fighting with everything they have to survive. Yoan Ivander Yogil is one such child, only three months old.
He cannot yet speak. He does not yet know what this world looks like. And yet he must already endure a pain that even adults can scarcely imagine.
From the moment he was born, his heart was incomplete. He has been diagnosed with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and right coronary cusp prolapse.
He cannot do what other babies do: rest peacefully in his mother's arms, drink milk, fall asleep, and grow up slowly. After just a few sips of milk, he gasps for breath. His weight refuses to climb. Every single breath takes everything he has.

This surgery costs RM80,000. His father is a renovation worker. Every ringgit he had saved over the years, scraped together through years of frugal living, was handed over the moment his child was diagnosed with the disease. His mother used to work as a cleaner, but she has since left her job to stay by her child's side, around the clock.
This family has given absolutely everything they have. And still, they are short of the funds. They have tried appealing to many quarters, but it is simply that this time, the weight is too great to carry alone.
Persatuan Kebajikan Sayap Kasih Malaysia pleads to the public that their act of kindness could become the hand that pulls the young toddler back from the edge. In a press statement, the NGO said: "We believe that when many people each give just a little, together they can create a miracle.
