ROAD resurfacing works along Jalan Langkawi in Taman Teratai Mewah Kuala Lumpur is a welcome sight for Setapak residents.

This is because the road was riddled with potholes and had been a bane to motorists.

Kuala Lumpur Advisory Board member Andre Lai said resurfacing works, which started from a stretch in front of Langkawi Apartment, would take a month to complete.

“Tender for the project was awarded last year, but was delayed due to a change in the person-in-charge of the project at Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

“The scope of the work includes resurfacing 920m of Jalan Langkawi until the junction with Jalan Chong Hwa,” he told StarMetro when met at the site.

Lai added that the road condition was bad due to multiple trench works for installation of underground utility cables.

He added that the route had been the main access to two property construction sites along the road for the past 10 years.

“Only ad hoc repairs were done on the road before this.

“The road resurfacing would benefit many motorists who use it as a shortcut to Jalan Genting Klang and Jalan Gombak.”

At the site, machinery used for road paving was parked at the side of the road, reducing it to one lane to facilitate the road resurfacing project.

Lai also lauded DBKL’s effort in paving the roads of the commercial area along Jalan 1/23f.

“Also, the majority of Kampung Kuantan roads have been paved.

“Motorists are urged to be patient while the road along Jalan Langkawi are being resurfaced,” he said.
