The Malaysia Chinese Women Entrepreneurs Association’s (MCWEA) annual Chinese New Year dinner hosted a gathering of 130 like-minded entrepreneurs representing various business associations.

Guests had the opportunity to network with each other while helping themselves to a scrumptious buffet at Aurora Cafe in Medan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur.

MCWEA president Datin Seri Jessie Wong said the dinner was held in conjunction with International Women’s Day on March 8.

“I am privileged to be a part of this dynamic community where MCWEA is a platform for women to share their vision,” she said.

“It is my heartfelt wish to continue the legacy of MCWEA founder Puan Sri Dr Susan Cheah who continues to inspire us until today.

“Let us all be united in empowering women and contributing to nation building through entrepreneurship.”

Based in Kuala Lumpur, the MCWEA is an independent group consisting of progressive women entrepreneurs.

Founded by Cheah in 2011, the association brings together talented and successful women from different industries in the region.

It uplifts its members by inspiring them to enhance their business achievements through business networking.

The association is also aiming to provide a platform for personal and business growth through positive works that have long-lasting and impactful contributions for individuals, industries and the nation.

Cheah, who was also present at the event, urged continued support for the association’s leaders.

“Let us embrace the spirit of sharing is caring as I believe that those who give, are those who gain in their endeavours.

“For the Year of the Dragon, let us draw inspiration from the majestic dragon which is a symbol of strength, dignity and prosperity, and let’s affect positive change in our communities,” she said.

During the dinner, guests were treated to a lion dance performance and a lucky draw.

Also present were Tourism Malaysia director-general Manoharan Periasamy, International Promotion Division for Asia/Africa deputy director Nuwal Fadhilah Ku Azmi as well as special officer to the director-general Ahmad Bakhtiar Abdul Majid.
