Motorists parking illegally along the road in front of Arte Cheras condominium are not only obstructing traffic but also posing a safety hazard to other road users in Taman Midah, say residents.

During a visit to the site, StarMetro observed that vehicles were parked on both sides of Jalan Cheras, narrowing the two-lane road.

A resident who only wanted to be known as Fakhrul, 36, said this had been a problem here for a long time.

He said it was difficult for motorists, especially those behind the wheel of larger vehicles, to manoeuver here as they head to the main road.

“The congestion starts in the early morning and sometimes lasts until night fall,” he added.

According to him, many residents have lodged their complaints with the condo’s management, with some even urging Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to take action.

Fakhrul believed that some of the cars parked illegally belonged to the condo residents.

“Parking spaces are limited and insufficient for the sizeable population here,” he said, adding that these motorists’ actions inconvenienced other road users.

Fakhrul said he had seen DBKL officers issuing compounds to traffic offenders here but the parking problem persisted.

“I hope DBKL can implement stricter action against those causing obstruction,” he said.

When contacted, DBKL acknowledged the matter but had yet to respond to the issue at press time.
