WATER theme parks in Selangor are among places visited by families during school holidays.

One popular spot is Water-World i-City in Shah Alam, which boasts The Ultimate Tornado – the first spiral water slide in South-East Asia.

A visitor to the park during the December break, Iskandar Shah Ismail, 41, said he chose the water theme park instead of heading to rivers or the sea to avoid unpredictable weather and for safety reasons.

Previously, he often took his children to a beach in Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan, during school holidays, but opted for a water theme park this time around because of its proximity to his residence.

“Children really enjoy water activities, but going to rivers at the moment doesn’t seem safe given the unpredictable weather.

“So, I chose to bring my children to the water park instead.

“It is safer because there are lifeguards constantly monitoring those using the pools and slides,” he told Bernama.

A visitor who wanted to be known as Along, 38, from Ijok in Kuala Selangor, said he brought his children to enjoy a swim.

“I haven’t been here for a long time because this place is usually crowded, especially during weekends.”

The father of three said he usually avoided crowded places, but his children had asked to visit the water theme park and he agreed.

“It is not far from our home and moreover, they offered a discount on tickets.”

Nurul Hasanah Hashim, 32, said she and her husband took the opportunity to visit the water theme park as there were many activities they could enjoy.

“We are from Johor and came here to attend a friend’s wedding.

“Every time we come to the Klang Valley, the water theme park becomes a must-visit family destination because of its various activities, but more importantly, the children are happy to play in the water.”
