The Wanderlust Odyssey performance by Euphoria dancers at Queensbay Mall is a tale of love and joy befitting the season.

Performances by homegrown dancers, activities lined up for festive celebrations

THERE is infinite wonder in the universe but you need not venture far to experience it.

This season of joy and gifting, Queensbay Mall in Penang will take shoppers on an enthralling journey into a boundless galaxy with its “Wanderlust Odyssey” Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.

Its central atrium has been turned into a realm of interstellar magic - filled with crystalised stars, swirling orbs and glistening diamonds – where mind, body and soul can wander freely.

You know you are in a different world altogether when the Christmas trees are a dashing royal blue, interspersed among icy white domes, silvery tunnels and majestic towers. Some shooting stars streak overhead, as would the occasional snow shower.

Reindeer strut happily among blue and white flowers while lights twinkle away. Venture into the hexagonal structure and you would also find with infinity mirrors where imagination and reality converge.

For children, there is also an exclusive playground where fun-filled discoveries and much laughter awaits.

Shoppers of all ages can look forward to the Wanderlust Odyssey performances by the dancers of homegrown group Euphoria.

The tale is set deep in space, on Planet Q, where a group of elves hold annual celebrations to embrace the “energy of joy” and radiate peace, love and fun to all living things. But then dark elves appear to zap the wonders away, plunging the planet into gloom.

To prevent the energy of joy from being lost forever, the elves embark on a challenging odyssey, climbing mountains and braving danger, to retrieve the precious substance. They are successful and manage to restore balance to the planet, henceforth commemorating it as the “Day of Love and Joy” otherwise known as Christmas.

Be sure to catch the performances at 6.30pm on Dec 23 and 25, as well as 2.30pm on Dec 24.

The snow showers are also a magical experience not to be missed. On Dec 8, 18, 19, 20 and 21, it is scheduled for 8pm.

For Dec 9, 10, 15 and 22, they fall at 3pm and 8pm. On Dec 16, 17, 23, 24 and 25, it is noon, 4pm and 8pm.

The Q-Kids Club have several workshops lined up. Make a mini astronaut on Dec 9 and 10 (4pm), shrinkage key chain on Dec 16, Christmas bag on Dec 17 and festive keychain on Dec 21 (all 1pm). Minimum spends and pre-registration are required.

Alternatively, catch the Astronaut Balloonist at 3pm on Dec 9 and 10, or his stilt-walking compatriot at 4pm on Dec 16, 17, 23, 24 and 25.

Santa Claus would also have walkabouts at 7pm on Dec 9 and 10, as well as noon on Dec 16, 17, 23, 24 and 25. Meet and greet sessions are also set for 3pm and 7pm on Dec 22, 23, 24 and 25.

It would not be Christmas without cute gifts and the mall has plenty to offer via various redemptions. Get a mini astronaut with by minimum spending of RM288, mug with RM388, or trolley luggage with RM988.

Get an Auto Bavaria umbrella with minimum spending of RM688 from Dec 14 onwards, or flask with RM488 from Dec 28 onwards. There’s also a Uniqlo cooler bag redemption with spending of RM588 from Dec 21 onwards.
