Low water pressure causing Kg Sungai Buloh folk hardship

For the past few months, residents in parts of Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh have been facing low water pressure after the waterworks department, due to frequent complaints, installed a new system to boost water pressure at main pipes.

The problem is now acute and residents in the low-cost housing scheme in Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh and nearby residential areas cannot use their washing machines, electric showers and other appliances, which need higher water pressure.

Some disabled residents and senior citizens are affected by this problem.

This is causing inconvenience and hardship to residents especially working folk.

Low water pressure has been a long-term problem for these areas as the number of houses, buildings and consumers have increased tremendously in the last two decades.

There is a need for larger pipes to be installed to cater for increased demand and use.

The waterworks department needs to understand that its new booster/stabilising system is not working well as even houses that had reasonably good water pressure before are now facing problems.

This is not the way to alleviate or rectify the problem. Residents are facing low pressure where there was none before.

The residents hope the department will look into these problems and rectify them urgently, and also consider long-term plans to increase supply through larger pipes.
