THE ANNUAL QNET Group Convention in Penang never fails to attract delegates from all over the world.

This year’s event themed “Touching A Billion Hearts” did not disappoint the 12,000 delegates from over 50 countries who met at Setia SPICE Convention Centre, Penang last Friday night.

It is also the first time the convention is held over two sessions, the first one for the 12,000 delegates from Sept 8 to 12 and another from Sept 17 to 21.

The grand opening ceremony started with the arrival of delegates from as early as 2pm followed by VIPs and the group founders at about 8pm.

Prior to the grand event, the delegates converged at the main hall of the stadium, enjoying themselves by dancing along to the tune played.

When QI Group executive chairman Datuk Seri Dr Vijay Eswaran, deputy chairman Joseph Japadas Bismark and fellow VIPs entered the arena, the crowd applauded thunderously.

State tourism and creative economy committee chairman Wong Hon Wai, in his speech, described the event as a magnificent evening.

He said for a decade now, Penang had served as the backdrop for the convention, bringing together visionaries, entrepreneurs and leaders who seek inspiration, learning and a renewed dedication to leadership and success.

“Truly, it is an honour to be part of this remarkable event, the largest bi-annual gathering of network marketing professionals associated with the QI Group’s flagship business, QNET,” he said.

Wong welcomed all the delegates to try Penang food and visit the Unesco heritage sites.

He said he was confident the delegates would have enriching and transformative experiences professionally and personally.

The direct-selling company also marked its 25th anniversary with a cake-cutting ceremony.

In his speech, Vijay said he and Bismark were happy to be in Penang where they started their business 25 years ago.

He said the company’s success was not contributed by individuals alone but by a team.

“To succeed we must always have a team behind us. Nobody achieves success by themselves.

“What you need to learn is to build a team. When you build a team, the team will build you,” he said.

During the opening ceremony the delegates were entertained with an energetic dance show by V Company from India.

The annual convention is a platform to promote entrepreneurship among QNET independent representatives through training programmes and workshops.
