RESIDENTS of Kampung Segambut Bahagia in Kuala Lumpur are pleased with the completion of a new futsal court built at the community’s public field.

The court, measuring 24m by 12m and costing RM46,700, was funded under the Segambut MP’s constituency budget.

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, who is Segambut MP, said residents of Kampung Segambut Bahagia Tambahan, Kampung Segambut Dalam, Kampung Segambut Tengah, Taman Segambut Muda and Taman Segambut Damai would be able to use the public space.

“This is the only public court available to the surrounding communities,” said Yeoh.

“We want to do all we can to provide residents, including youths, with adequate recreational spaces.”

Segambut Society for Welfare and Social Unity chairman Mohamed Ishak Sidin thanked Yeoh.

“We’re very happy because now our children no longer have to go far to play and can use the court here instead,” he said.

Mohamed Ishak added that residents would try and ensure everyone gets fair use of the court.

Yeoh said fences and lighting around the court would be added and other structures repaired.
