THE plan to build a two-storey KTM station with park-and-ride facilities in Taman Cuepacs, Kepong in Kuala Lumpur, is pending final approval.

According to the notice erected at the site, the project’s development order was approved back in 2017.

Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh’s political secretary Yap Yee Vonne said the project was in the pipeline.

“The authorities are sorting out the final approvals and permits.

“Our office is committed to facilitating the process to ensure that work can begin as soon as possible,” she said.

At press time, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) had yet to respond on the matter.

This came after Kepong Community Service Centre head Yee Poh Ping called for a press conference to highlight the project’s delay.

He also pointed out the poor condition of the Segambut KTM station, which is about 1km from the location indicated for the new station in Taman Cuepacs.

“There is no personnel manning the counter at the current station.

“The ticket machine is broken and without personnel manning the counter, how are people going to get tickets?

“The place also lacks parking bays, which makes it inconvenient for the public.

“We hope KTMB will look into this matter,” he said.

Yee said he had highlighted the matter to the Railway Asset Corporation too.

“The new KTM station in Taman Cuepacs is very near the Segambut KTM station.

“We wonder if the Segambut station will be closed,” he said.

A sales executive who wanted to be known only as Chan, 42, said he sometimes took the train from Segambut KTM to the city.

“Sometimes it is too quiet here and I worry about safety.

“I hope the facilities here can be upgraded,” he said.
