Mega Selangor road resurfacing exercise taking place in two weeks

AMPANG: Large-scale road resurfacing works will be carried out simultaneously throughout Selangor in two weeks, says Izham Hisham.

The state Infrastructure and Agriculture Committee chairman said that a total of 20 contractors were involved in the project that was expected to take two months to complete.

Izham added that the project, which involved an allocation of RM50mil, would concentrate on areas with badly damaged roads as well as areas that were neglected.

"We will prioritise roads nominated by the local authorities, district offices and the Public Works Department (JKR)," Sinar Harian reported Izham as saying in an online report on Sunday (May 7).

According to Sinar Harian, he had been speaking to the media after the Pandan Indah state constituency Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration on Saturday (May 6).

Izham reportedly said that the number of resurfacing works was different for each district, based on the reports of the agencies involved.

Selangor had announced an allocation of RM145mil to upgrade the road network in the state under its Budget 2023.

This includes mega resurfacing projects for roads under the jurisdiction of local authorities.
