THERE will be no discount on assessment tax rates for Kuala Lumpur property owners this year, unlike in the administrative city of Putrajaya.
“We have an established system for determining assessment tax rates, which is based on the property’s rental fee," Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Mahadi Che Ngah (pic) said on Monday (Jan 9).
“In fact, DBKL has not reviewed the rates in a long time,” he said when asked if there were plans to review the assessment rates for property in the capital.

On Dec 22, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a 30% discount on assessment fee for properties below RM300,000 in Putrajaya, expected to benefit some 8,500 households.
Mahadi, who was at Menara DBKL 1 in Kuala Lumpur to launch the ePenilaian & Hartanah platform, said the rates for low-cost housing would also stay for now.
From April 1, property owners looking to update their particulars must do so online via the new platform.
Users must register before updating their details such as MyKad and contact numbers or submitting related documents.
The system is meant to eliminate the use of physical applications and expedite processing within one working day.
