JUST rebranded on Aug 1, The Granite Luxury Hotel in Penang has clinched two accolades at the Asia-Pacific Property Awards (APPA) in London and two Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) entries.

The Granite received recognition as Best Leisure Development and Best New Hotel Construction & Design during the APPA gala dinner in the English capital city.

The hotel (previously known as M Summit 191 Executive Hotel Suites) managed by M Summit Group won both categories, having competed against hundreds of property professionals in the Asia-Pacific region.

“It is a wonderful start for The Granite and the awards will inspire us to uphold the highest of hospitality standards.

“We want to dedicate these accolades to all who have supported us, believed in us and experienced the M Summit spirit.

“Having gone through trying times during the pandemic, we learn the importance of building trusting relationships.

“We are stronger when we are together,” said group founder and managing director Datuk Albert Moh at the award presentation in London.

APPA is part of the global International Property Awards, which celebrates the highest levels of achievement by companies operating in the property and real estate industry.

A new extension building was recently added for The Granite to address the growing demand of hotel rooms in George Town.

With this new wing, the hotel now houses 152 rooms in total. They comprise standard hotel rooms and large suites which come with their own pantry, living area and bedrooms.

The new wing of 56 rooms and suites shares the same birthday with the nation when it recently opened its doors on Aug 31. The old wing has 96 suites.

Two of its facilities were also recently adjudged by MBR as Malaysia’s Tallest Automated Hotel Car Park (71.2m) and Highest Cantilevered Acrylic Bottom Swimming Pool (49.5m).

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow witnessed the presentation of certificates by MBR deputy general manager Aaron Bong to Moh.

Also present were M Summit Group purchasing director Datin Jennifer Ong, group general manager Moh Wei Ren, hotel general manager Moh Wei Ken and development planning manager Moh Wei Khye.

Other facilities at The Granite are The Skye Event Space and M Summit Coworking Space.

Bookings can now be made via www.thegranitehotel.com and online travel agents.
