OVER the years, many factories in Petaling Jaya have moved out and landowners have sought the Petaling Jaya Municipal Council (MBPJ) to rezone the vacant lands for commercial usage.

To utilise these vacant lands in Sections 19, 51 and 51A, MBPJ has drafted a “special area plan”.

“Studies are being done by MBPJ and consultants were hired to come up with a master plan,” said Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran in a press conference yesterday at his office in Petaling Jaya.

MBPJ will be holding focus group sessions to seek stakeholders’ input on the proposed special area plan.

The session for Section 19 will be held today, while the focus group meeting for Section 51 will be conducted tomorrow and the one for Section 51A is on Thursday.

These session will take place at the MBPJ Civic Hall from 8.30am to 5pm.

Through these sessions, the MBPJ will be seeking input from landowners, residents, and operators of factories in the vicinity on the proposed plan.

Rajiv said MBPJ is attempting to be more inclusive by producing the plan only after receiving public feedback.

“Once the plan is drawn, there will be four weeks of public display at MBPJ to enable the public to view the plan.”

He urged the public, especially the landowners, to attend the focus group sessions and provide feedback.
