TO MARK National Day, Puzzle Planet joined up with Kuala Lumpur Taylor’s International School and Intermark Mall to create the “Biggest Malaysia Jigsaw Puzzle Map” recognised by Malaysia Book of Records (MBR).

A total of 23 Taylor’s International School students conceptualised, sketched and coloured puzzle pieces with illustrations of what Malaysia means to them.

The 4.5m by 2.1m map was completed over 30 days.

Puzzle Planet contributed 48,000 blank jigsaw puzzle canvas pieces which were sponsored by Pintoo International.

Puzzle Planet chief operating officer Dr Jeffrey Yap said the jigsaw map paid tribute to Malaysia’s beauty and diversity, adding that their intelligence partner Huawei Malaysia was also involved in the project.

The puzzle map is inspired by this year’s Merdeka theme which is “Keluarga Malaysia Teguh Bersama”.

It shows the 13 states with hand-drawn illustrations of what each is known for.

Illustrations of Mount Kinabalu, the rafflesia and the proboscis monkey represented Sabah while the Oriental Pied Hornbill, the iconic cat monument and the longhouse were shown for Sarawak.

Illustrations for Peninsular Malaysia included delicacies like Ipoh chicken rice, kopitiam coffee and Cameron Highlands strawberries; handicraft like the wau; and iconic sites such as Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge and Fraser’s Hill Clock Tower.

MBR marketing and events department deputy general manager Aaron Bong presented a certificate at Intermark Mall.

Also present were Pavilion REIT Malls marketing director Kung Suan Ai and Kuala Lumpur Taylor’s International School principal Peter Wells.

The “Biggest Malaysia Jigsaw Puzzle Map” will be displayed at the mall’s ground floor atrium until Sept 18.
