Cross-cultural leadership programme launched

Eighty students from MDIS and Kolej MDIS Malaysia with their certificates from the cross-cultural leadership programme.

IN the era of globalisation, the ability to lead in a complex cross-cultural environment is a vital skillset for young leaders.

Thus, the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) in collaboration with Kolej MDIS Malaysia, launched a cross- cultural student leadership programme as part of its regional student mobility initiatives.

The programme, held in July, aimed to foster student leadership while creating an intercultural experience and forming regional integration.

Eighty student leaders from the Malaysia and Singapore institutes participated in the three-day two-night programme at Kolej MDIS Malaysia, EduCity Iskandar Puteri in Johor.

Kolej MDIS Malaysia is the second overseas campus of MDIS, offering diploma courses and globally recognised United Kingdom-degree programmes in diverse disciplines, including business and management, finance, banking and accounting, tourism and hospitality, mass communication, information technology and digital media.

The programme was designed to nurture the leadership skills of tertiary students while instilling future-readiness and inculcating a sense of responsibility towards the society.

During the programme, student leaders were guided through a series of activities comprising elements of team building, student leadership lectures, team flag and relay activities, offering invaluable takeaways and learning points for self-exploration and leadership development.

Students were able to benefit personally and professionally by acquiring values, skillsets and knowledge to help them achieve their potential on their leadership journey.
