New dialysis centre in Rawang to benefit 60 renal patients

National Kidney Foundation (NKF) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with The Temple of Fine Arts and its sister organisation Yayasan Shivanjali, to set up a charitable dialysis centre in Rawang.

The RM1.2mil NKF-Siva Santa Dialysis Centre in Sungai Bakau, Rawang, will help give end-stage renal failure patients access to dialysis treatment while promoting awareness of the disease.

It will have 10 dialysis machines which will be used three shifts a day, six days a week.

About 60 patients in Rawang will benefit from this collaboration.

“This is NKF’s first dialysis centre in Rawang and we are extremely thankful to be part of this joint venture with The Temple of Fine Arts and Yayasan Shivanjali,” said NKF chief executive officer Khor Xin Yun.

She said the new facility would operate from Mondays to Saturdays between 7am and 9pm, and provide standard dialysis care.

“There are no government hospitals in Rawang and only one Klinik Kesihatan.

“About 50 patients travel from Rawang to Hospital Selayang or other dialysis centres for their treatment every alternate day.

“NKF-Damansara Rotary Dialysis Centre in Selayang is running almost at full capacity.

“We hope with this collaboration, patients living closer to Rawang can be transferred to the new facility,” she added.

The Temple of Fine Arts Malaysia president Dr M. Paranjothy said, “We have a duty to help those in need and we believe any action, no matter how small, can lead to a better world.

Yayasan Shivanjali board chairman S.Palanivel added, “This is the foundation’s way of showing that we care and that we are always here to help.

“We aim to change lives and by collaborating with trusted organisations such as NKF, we seek to raise awareness on kidney disease and directly impact communities in need.

“I urge more people to donate to such organisations so that they can continue saving lives.”
