Contractor to repair escalators at Sri Rampai LRT station selected via open tender, says DBKL

KUALA LUMPUR: Bossque Skyline Sdn Bhd was appointed as the contractor to carry out replacement and maintenance work on one of the escalators at the Sri Rampai LRT station after it passed the evaluation stages implemented by the Bid Evaluation Committee, says Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

DBKL said an open tender to bumiputera contractors by DBKL to carry out the work was opened on April 2 and closed on April 15, 2022.

After the quotation offer period closed, DBKL did an evaluation of participating tenderers and said Bossque Skyline was selected based on a reasonable price offer and sufficient financial position through the quotation committee meeting.

"The company has a government work procurement certificate from the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) recognised by the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry.

"The company also has a declaration certificate from the Finance Ministry under the appropriate field code for performing the work," said DBKL in a statement on Thursday (June 16).

The statement by DBKL came after an online portal on June 14 reported that the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) had urged DBKL to explain why a clothing company was awarded a contract to repair the under-maintained escalator at the Taman Sri Rampai LRT station.

Muda Federal Territories chairman Taufiq Zarak had revealed that the company registered as an enterprise selling clothes and had nothing to do with engineering that allowed the maintenance of escalators.

It was also previously reported that the escalator had been problematic since 2016.

DBKL further stated that the company also had a Bumiputera Work Contractor Certificate for grade G2 category B (Building Construction), grade G2 category CE (Civil Engineering Construction) and grade G2 (Mechanical and Electrical) which allows the company to carry out such work.

DBKL added that the escalator was operational as of June 15.
