The Sirim 50 standard by the conformity assessment body wholly owned by Sirim Bhd, aims to help companies manage their community impact on issues such as workforce needs, workers’ rights and workplace safety.

The launch was attended by Sirim Bhd president and group chief executive Datuk Dr Ahmad Sabirin Arshad.

The Sirim 50 standard serves to advance the sustainability efforts of Malaysian companies in line with United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals 2030, namely Goal 8 of decent work and economic growth.
Ahmad Sabirin said the launch of Sirim 50 aligned with the group’s commitment to assist companies in Malaysia incorporate the principles of environmental, social and governance (ESG) into their operations.
“ESG is pivotal as it affects a company’s reputation and relationship with stakeholders.
“I strongly urge all companies to implement the Sirim 50 standard,” he said.
During her presentation on the scheme, Nur Fadhilah said the standard would help Malaysian companies demonstrate their commitment to the welfare of workers and communities.
She said this would not only enhance their competitiveness but also contribute to business growth and productivity.
“Sirim 50 will surely elevate the labour sector in Malaysia to new heights,” she added.
