THIRTEEN underprivileged Muslim families in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur received aid to make their Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration a lot brighter.

Great Heart Charity Association’s volunteers personally visited and distributed Hari Raya goodies and groceries to the families.

The grocery packs, worth RM80 each, comprised rice, ingredients for ketupat and rendang, cordial drinks, cooking oil and Raya biscuits baked by the volunteers.

GHCA carried out a survey on families in need before initiating its one-day distribution drive.

One of the volunteers, Phoebe Lim, said, “We delivered some grocery items packed in a hamper hoping to bring cheer to the poor.

“They were very happy and surprised to receive the gifts. They were also surprised to get handmade biscuits from us.

“The most memorable moment for me was when a little Malay girl wished us ‘Selamat Hari Raya’ in Mandarin after we delivered the Raya goodie bag and biscuits to her.”Mother of two Dayang Rafidah, one of the beneficiaries who suffers from an eye condition, thanked the volunteers for their kindness.

“Thank you very much for coming all the way to my home with these gifts.

“My eye condition makes moving about a bit harder, and having the volunteers bring the goodies to my house is really helpful.

“I am very grateful that I can now cook a good meal for my family,” she said.
