Arulmigu Om Sakthi Muniswarar Temple which is undergoing a RM670,000 renovation has received RM26,000 from Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh.

The contribution from his constituency funds is to cover the painting of the temple in Bandar Baru, Ayer Itam in Penang.

“We invited tenders for the work and chose the contractor offering the best price,” said Ramkarpal when handing over a cheque to temple committee chairman Loga Shan Ramiah recently.

Loga Shan said renovation works at the temple began in June 2019.

The renovation is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

“It is a 100% facelift as the temple did not have a proper prayer space or altar and the last renovation was carried out in 2006.

“Locals and sculptors from India completed the sculpting work in the inner sanctum and now, we have a newly structured altar and deities.”

Loga Shan said their new fully air-conditioned function hall which cost RM450,000 would be rented out for weddings and other ceremonies.

“Most of the donations we received for the renovation were from the public, internal funds and from committee members,” he added.
