Over 40 premises disinfected in OUG commercial area

Contractors in personal protective equipment disinfecting a restaurant in the OUG commercial area.

COMMERCIAL areas in Overseas Union Garden, Jalan Kelang Lama, Kuala Lumpur were thoroughly sanitised.

The cleaning of the neighbourhood, alternatively known as Taman Overseas Union, involved some 50 people including residents, Lembah Pantai Health Department personnel and contractors.

Over 40 shops including restaurants, pharmacies and sundry shops were disinfected.

OUG Residents Association (RA) chairman Simon Wong told StarMetro that rumours on the Internet about the OUG commercial area having many Covid-19 cases could not be confirmed.

“Nevertheless, people were already concerned because it was a red zone, so we decided that there was no harm in giving the place a scrub down.

“Once the RA decided to do this, we got in touch with the business owners in the area to inform them of the plan and went ahead with the sanitisation.

“With businesses allowed to reopen and restrictions eased, we just want to assure everyone that OUG is safe,” he said.
