NGO highlights urgent need to protect Johor rivers

Sungai Gelang Patah has become a dumping ground for people living along the river damaging the mangrove forest ecosystem.

LIONS Club of Gelang Patah wants to create better awareness of the importance of protecting rivers from pollution in southern Johor.

Its president Poh Pai Yik said the club launched the “Love Our Rivers” campaign in April last year with Sungai Gelang as its first case study.
