Covid-19 Watch: 2,600 AstraZeneca doses to be given in several Perak regions

A TOTAL of 2,600 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine will be given to residents in Menglembu, Lahat and Bukit Merah.

Menglembu assemblyman Steven Chaw Kan Foon said the vaccination programme will be held at the Dewan Orang Ramai Lahat on Sept 8 and 9.

He said almost 90% of the allocated vaccine doses have been received and that walk-ins will not be accepted, adding that the venue for the second dose has yet to be confirmed.

Chaw added that he is proposing for the second dose to be taken at vaccination centres (PPV) in Stadium Indera Mulia or Batu Gajah but said that this will be decided later.

“Realising that there are many Covid-19 cases reported here, we decided to have this programme and so far we have received over 2,300 registrations," Chaw told reporters at his service centre in Menglembu on Sunday (Sept 5)

Perak recorded 1,405 Covid-19 cases on Saturday (Sept 4) with a total of 72,821 cumulative cases.
