PENANGITES woke up to two major incidents on a stormy morning – an uprooted tree that crushed a car and killed its driver, and a landslip that sent two parked cars sliding down a river bank.

The freak accident along Perak Road was believed to have killed the driver instantly. It took firemen nearly two hours to extricate him.
