THE state Forestry Department has given Flex Penang some 360 trees to be planted across the factory’s facilities as part of the World Earth Day 2021 celebration.
Flex Penang vice-president of Operations P. Viswanathan said the move would help reduce global warming.
“We want to advance environmentally sustainable practices in order to contribute to a cleaner, healthier world.
“We are joining hands with the government, our community and employees to promote a more sustainable future and fight climate change, ” he said at the launching of Flex Penang’s Earth Day celebration in Batu Kawan.
Flex Penang, a total supply chain solutions provider, has been organising World Earth Day since 2017 as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Besides holding the annual Earth Day event, Flex Penang has also established vertical and hydroponic gardens as well as preserved Bukit Panchor Forest Reserve with the collaboration of the state Forestry Department.
Viswanathan said the company was committed to lowering emissions through science-based targets and advancing a safe, inclusive and respectful work environment.
Also present at the Earth Day event were Seberang Prai City Council mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud and state Forestry Department director Muhammad Ezhar Yusuf.
In his speech, Rozali applauded Flex Penang’s green initiatives.
