Form One student wins merit award in international poster contest

District 308B1 governor Kenny Low said Gin How’s entry was selected as one of 23 merit award winners based on creativity, originality and portrayal of the theme “Peace Through Service”.

As such, Gin How will receive US$500 (RM2,025) and a certificate of merit.

The merit award winners were from Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Taiwan, the Philippines and the United States (California, Connecticut, Florida, Kansas and Minnesota).

Approximately 600,000 children from 50 countries participated in this year’s contest, where 110 were selected to be judged at the international level.

The artwork of the Form One student from Foon Yew High School in Johor Baru was submitted for the international competition after it won the national Peace Poster Contest in November last year.

His entry came out tops out of 115 submitted from 68 Lions clubs.

The peace poster contest gave children a chance to express their vision of peace and inspire the world through art and creativity.

The grand-prize winner will be announced at the Lions Day with the United Nations.
