Stella Maris International School (SMIS) in Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, presented RM13,406 to the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKFM) in support of its initiatives.

Thanking donors in his speech, SMIS president Dr BC Tan said the school had raised more than RM70,000 in the last five years in aid of the kidney foundation.

“It is heartening to see the generosity of the SMIS family and others recognised in this cheque presentation of RM13,406 made to NKFM this year despite the onslaught of the global pandemic.

“It is Stella Maris’ way of saying we do care and we are here to help,” he added during the school’s annual Kidney Awareness Day charity drive.

The event held in conjunction with World Kidney Day saw all students, teachers and administrative staff come to school dressed in red.

Among the activities held was a quiz for the pupils on kidney health.
