HAVING successfully kept the Covid-19 pandemic from spreading in Penang, frontliners here can now afford to relax and take a breather under the state’s ‘Thank You Frontliners’ campaign.
The campaign launched on July 10 by state tourism committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin at The Top in Komtar was to express the state’s appreciation to frontliners.
Yeoh said a total of 18 Association of Tourism Attractions, Penang (Atap) members, ranging from attractions to retailers and a restaurant, have come forward to provide free admission tickets and irresistible deals to reward these frontline staff.
“The police, health department staff, locally deployed military personnel, immigration officers, civil defence staff, city council workers and Rela personnel are eligible to receive the perks and free passes (by visiting penangtraveldeals.com) under this campaign.
“Tourism industry players including the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) have shown their support in giving the best deals to frontliners as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) contribution,” he said in his speech.
Yeoh added that frontliners are heroes, as they had worked non-stop every day even during the fasting month to keep the disease in check.
“Some of them had to postpone their weddings just to keep the people safe.
“Even heroes need a break, and this is why we are offering free passes and attractive deals.
“These complimentary passes and perks are our way of saying ‘thank you’ for the sacrifices and contributions made by them.”
Among the perks offered are visits to world-class attractions such as Tropical Spice Garden, Entopia by Penang Butterfly Farm, The Habitat Penang Hill, The Top Penang and Tech Dome Penang.
Meanwhile, the Penang Wedding Professional Association (PWPA) has also worked out 62 ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ deals under its own campaign known as PWPACares.
Soon-to-be-wed frontliners who had to postpone their weddings due to the pandemic will be honoured with attractive deals by various hotels, event spaces, and wedding vendors for an unforgettable wedding in Penang.
PWPA president Low Chin Siang said the campaign would run from January to September next year, and frontliners, who had to postpone their wedding, can start to plan for their dream wedding by going to www.pwpa.org.my/events/pwpacares website.
“More than 50 wedding vendors and venue providers have signed up to participate in the #pwpacares campaign, which is also open to frontliners from all over the world,” said Low.
Also present at the launch were MAH Penang chairman Khoo Boo Lim, Atap chairman Ch’ng Huck Theng and Penang Global Tourism chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan.
The ‘Thank You Frontliners’ campaign is launched under JOM! Experience Penang that targets the domestic market, after the recently launched Best Hotel Deals and Best Attraction Deals in Penang via penangtraveldeals.com
