Motivating folk via dikir barat

All is quiet in the Pasir Mas town in Kelantan as the state battles the pandemic.

THE Kelantan Information Department has turned to dikir barat (traditional music form) to encourage people in the state to comply with the movement control order (MCO).

Its director Lim Ann Teck said the department had begun airing a dikir barat song titled ‘Duduk Di Rumah’ (Stay At Home) on its Facebook account.

“The song is performed by two dikir barat singers who are very popular in Kelantan, Fendi Kenali and Raden Mas Uji, ” he said, adding that the song was created by the duo.

“The lyrics were written with the collaboration of the department and the song has been aired through loudspeakers of mobile units in the state, ” he told reporters in Kota Baru.

Lim said the song would be aired over Kelantan FM radio soon so that everyone in the state could listen to it and be aware of the lyrics.

He said the song was used to deliver the important message as people in the state were familiar with dikir barat and it would help the public better understand the MCO requirements.

“I am glad that the song has already received very good feedback from the people, especially those in the interior and rural areas, ” he said.

Lim added that the department had also introduced the ‘Tazkirah On Wheels’ religious informative programme broadcast by its mobile units and on social media.

He urged the Kelantan public to comply with the MCO so as to curb the spread of Covid-19. — Bernama
