‘Lions’ putting their offerings on the 10m-altar to honour the Jade Emperor at Kampung Cross Street, Bukit Mertajam.

AS ‘lions’ made their way up an altar that was 10.3m (33ft 11in) high to make offerings to the Jade Emperor, the crowd held their breath.

Finally, the ‘lions’ reached the top of the ornate altar made from 160 red wooden tables secured and stacked together without a single nail to hold them.
