Lighting and livening up Ipoh Padang

THE Perak state government plans to brighten the Ipoh Padang area here with a light and sound show.

State Tourism Committee chairman Tan Kar Hing said details of the showcase are being finalised, and is expected to be ready by the end of the year.

He said the show will boast several components like interactive features and story-based light projections.

“This is a programme with the Ipoh City Council and the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority,” Tan told reporters after launching the International Design Fest and Safe City Programme between the council and Politeknik Ungku Omar in Ipoh Padang.

“This will be another tourism attraction in Ipoh.

“It will complement the night-time activities like our bazaars and festivals.”

Meanwhile, the council has refurbished Lorong Hale in Ipoh with better pavements and a mural to attract more tourists.

The lighting was also improved to alleviate the fear of crime in the area, said Tan.

“I hope we will attract more tourists to the state in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2020,” he added.
