PREPARATIONS for the Kuala Lumpur 2040 Master Plan is underway, and it is expected to be gazetted by the end of 2020.
Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad said six pre-consultation sessions had been conducted with all parties, including Kuala Lumpur MPs, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) advisory board, government agencies, professional body, NGOs and youth organisations.
“We plan to gazette the new KL master plan by late 2020, because after that, the current Kuala Lumpur 2020 Master Plan no longer applies.
“The media release, in respect for the new master plan, had been prepared by DBKL.
“The plan is a living document, as there will be changes along the way,” he said during a press conference held at Menara DBKL on Tuesday (April 30).
Khalid added that the decision to gazette the finalised version as of 2015 with addendum for Kuala Lumpur City Plan (KLCP) 2020 is not a political decision.
“It was a decision based on professional views and advice internally and externally of DBKL.
“I was told to gazette the latest plan and the addendum contains changes from 2015 to 2018,” he said.
The plan was gazetted on Oct 30 last year.
“However, certain party had challenge the gazetted plan in court on Feb 8, saying that it is wrong, and that the 2008 or 2012 should be the one to be gazetted instead.
“Since this is a legal case, I will let the court decide,” he said.
